Kevin VanDam’s success on the professional bass fishing tournament trail began early. At the age of 25 he won the coveted Bassmaster Angler of the Year title; the youngest person ever to accomplish that feat. He’s gone on to win that title six more times while collecting 25 tournament wins – including four Bassmaster Classics – and amassing more than six million dollars in winnings.
VanDam is a strong promoter of Michigan’s outdoor recreational opportunities. He helped broker a partnership between Bassmaster and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation to bring more Bassmaster tournaments to Michigan, promoted Michigan’s fishing opportunities in Pure Michigan ads, and created a college bass fishing tournament circuit held exclusively on Michigan waters.
VanDam still finds time to give back to the community. He and his wife Sherry established the Kevin VanDam Foundation which provides funding to several charities dedicated to children’s healthcare. He’s also hosted charitable events with the Detroit Lions to benefit community development programs.
