Continuing a long tradition of recognizing and rewarding communicators who excel in their craft, the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association (MOWA) recently announced winners of their 2022 Excellence in Craft awards.

Cliff Ketcham Award for Best Outdoor Feature
1st place: Adam Lewis for “Resurrecting Chingachgook”
2nd place: John Cleveland for “Kings Rule in the Land of the Midnight Sun”
3rd place: Steve Griffin for “Gimme Shelter”

James H. Hall Award for Best Outdoor Feature: Non-Consumptive Activity
1st place: Tom Huggler for “No Tickee no Diseases”
2nd place: Alan Campbell for “Legends of Conservation – Bob Garner”
3rd place: Bob Vogel for “Slash Wall Fencing”

James A.O. Crowe Award for Best Column
1st place: Tom Carney
2nd place: Tom Huggler
3rd place: Steve Griffin

Charlie Welch Award for Photography
1st place: Steve Griffin for “Great Grandpa”
2nd place: Tom Lounsbury for “Youth Hunters First Wild Rooster”
3rd place: Steven King for “Motorcycles on Ice”
